IBM T60 (ethernet: Intel 82573L) nie wykrywa karty ethernet

Hej.
Ostatnio kupiłem sobie laptopa IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T60. Wszystko byłoby super, gdyby nie to, że nie wykrywa mi karty sieciowej Intela 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller (sprawdzone w lspci). W ogóle nie widać interfejsu ethX, nawet po ifconfig -a. W lsmod występuje moduł obsługujący kartę sieciową e1000, ale nie działa. Na stronie Intela znalazłem moduł e1000e, ale także nie wykrywa sieciówki. Sprawdziłem też na Fedorze 12, ta sama sytuacja. Może ktoś ma tego samego lapka i miał ten sam problem. Jakieś rady? Googlowałem cały dzień dzisiaj, okazało się że jest to "well known problem", ale nie ma żadnego rozwiązania - a to dziwne w sumie, bo sądziłem, że podezspoły Intela są bez problemu obsługiwane w Linuksach.

Do łączenia używam Gnomowego defaultowego NetworkManagera 0.8

Pozwalam sobie się tu dokleić z archaikiem IBM ThinkPad T41 + karta wifi Medion Prism
Niestety jestem zielony w używaniu / konfigurowaniu ubunciaka, ale może czas zacząć...
Oczywiście wcześniej w wersjach 8.10, 9.04, 9.10 niezależnie czy remix czy nie wykrywał wszystko bez żadnych przeszkód. Najpierw zrobiłem upgrade z 9.10 - po restarcie brak wifi, potem instalacja remixu - to samo, teraz podaję dane z lucid'a:
